Chalk PreK: the Movement Project

Chalk is a haven: a safe place where kids can learn to trust themselves. It’s a place where physical, emotional, and social skills develop naturally and safely in a format that makes it easy and exciting for children to engage and learn. Our tiny people develop the knowledge and skills to confidently enter school feeling ready to make the right choices, challenge themselves, try hard and know that sometimes they’ll succeed and sometimes they’ll fail but no matter what they’re always learning and growing no matter the outcome.

the movement project CONCEPTS/TOOLS:

Movement Based Learning

Movement is the foundation of our program, as this program is one part of a full size recreational gymnastics, parkour and dryland training center! Kids will use their bodies to learn colors, shapes, numbers, letters and more. Studies show that movement while learning ignites brain development and is beneficial to mental health and physical performance, and we’ve seen it first hand. Our unique environment and facility allows us to offer a program that provides significant opportunity for physical activity and learning!

Spanish Immersion

En sus marcas, listos, fuera! CHALK integrates Spanish naturally into our everyday curriculum. Studies show that children exposed to dual language environments benefit from an increased level of cognitive capacity and critical thinking. We will make good use of our spanish daily during and after our structured learning time.

Real World Engagement in nature/Agriculture

A hands on approach to the better understanding of the farm to table movement, animal husbandry and gardening. We get our hands dirty! We teach children how these concepts provide food, clothing and strong economies through trade. Kids will be given the opportunity to engage in a Pre/K program resembling 4H/FFA. Yep, we will be getting outside.

The Movement Project fosters confidence and expands social skills through spanish immersion and a plethora of play and movement based learning. We utilize our 8000+ square feet of gymnastics and parkour gym to learn in ways that come naturally to children who like to run, jump, roll, tumble, sing, dance and have fun.

We engage with agriculture and nature through exploration of a wide variety of seasonally curated hands-on farm to table projects. These projects include learning how to care for animals, grow gardens, harvest eggs and vegetables and make basic meals.

Our kids will learn about an array of different concepts including but not limited to social/emotional, fine & gross motor, cognitive & conflict resolution skills as well as respect and manners.

We give our kids the ultimate resource - TRUST: we trust in their own capabilities to assess situations, make a plan and know their own limits. We help them to sharpen those skills and develop more tools and resources to become better and better at knowing themselves.
