TEMPORARILY CLOSED

Dear Chalk Members,

We just wanted to say thank you again for being so understanding regarding our weekend closure here at Chalk. With everything that is going on at the moment, our #1 priority is keeping our Chalk family safe and healthy!

Some of you might know about our plans to move early this summer to a bigger facility that we are so excited about... and since there is so much uncertainty as far as how we'll be encouraged to have social distance, we are going to take advantage of this down time and move NOW!

This will be a way for us to keep our staff busy (and paid) and not have to close at the end of the school like we had originally planned. This will enable us to have a smooth transition into the summer session. We are thrilled to have a space that really fits in line with the vision that we have for Chalk School of Movement, which is to get all kids in the Gorge excited about movement through quality gymnastics and parkour programs!

That being said we will not be having classes, birthday parties or Open Play until March 31st.

In the meantime, we are going to offer weekly skills classes online, so please stay tuned for more details on that, our move and when we'll reopen our doors.

And, remember to wash your hands 😉

Thank you for helping us to keep our families safe!

CSOM & COVID-19, planning for the future

Hi Chalk Families,

Jeri here. I want to keep everyone informed and working with us as a community to navigate new terrain regarding the health and future of our community, including the health of our old and young humans, as well as the health of the businesses that support them. :)

With school closures and all that is happening at brake-neck speeds we find ourselves torn in the need to support families in need of child care, kids in need of activity, and doing the right thing in terms of flattening the curve. We are doing our best to move quickly but thoughtfully. With that in mind, we've decided it's best to move one step at a time with the climate and landscape which is changing daily.

The following is cancelled:
Friday 3/14: Classes and Open Gym
Saturday 3/14: Open Play, Parties and Kids Night Out
Sunday 3/15: Open Play and Parties

We are in touch with birthday parties and Kids Night Out registrants (which had only one brave signup). Open Play has been very quiet, so we don't expect any issues with that. :)

Over the weekend we will let you all know in an email follow up with what our plan is for the rest of March.

Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram for up to the minute stuff and please follow announcements on the website for longer communications like this. Folks seem to get spam filtered from our emailing app a lot. I'm sending this one from my personal email.

To end, we just want to thank you all and ask that you please stay safe. You all mean the world to all of us and you've given us so much to look forward to every day. We want to nip this in the bud and get back to working with your amazing kids as fast as we can. We know there's a lot of varying opinions on how far everyone should go. As a business, we are very nervous. Closing is not something we want to do. We appreciate those who have reached out in support. Please know that we'll make things right, whatever happens. Makeup classes will happen, even if they end up being in June. We'll let you know our March plan over the weekend.

Yours truly,

Jeri, Ed and the CSOM Team - Kelly, Sarai, Olivia, Charlie, Joe, Cozzi, Steph, Jamie, Kaytlin, Steve, Nicole, Kailee, Kaleeya, Zoey, Rilynn, Jensen, Arlo & Memae.

COVID-19

In case you didn’t receive our members COVID-19 email..please read, we have made a couple additions.

Dear Chalk Members,
We understand that many are concerned about the health and safety of our athletes surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak.

The health of our Athletes, parents and staff is our top priority. With that, we wanted to reach out and let you know all of the precautions we are taking to keep our Chalk families safe. As most of you know, we pass out hand sanitizer (and amazing stamps) to all kids at end of class, you can expect this to continue. We are now asking that kids are clean upon entering the building, in clean clothes and that they clean their hands before entering the gym and again on their way out.

We ask that parents drop kids and head out until class is complete, and come back for pickup to keep crowd sizes lower.

Chalk staff has increased their cleaning and sanitizing efforts and will be constantly wiping down mats. Please allow a few extra minutes between classes to do so.

We encourage kids, parents and siblings to wash their hands before AND after class. We also ask that we move from high fives, fist bumps, elbow bumps etc to shakas and verbal encouragement and support. We will be minimizing our spotting requirements at skill based stations in classes as well and developing self spotting stations.

Please note there is hand sanitizer always available at the front desk.

We have covered the foam pit with mats that are easier to sanitize.

It breaks our hearts to have to remove kids from classes who are not well. But with the current concerns, our Coaches will remove sick kids at their discretion. So if your child is sick, please keep them home!

We have increased our a makeup schedule to accommodate missed classes for now and will try to accommodate as many as we can. Please consider working with your children on some of the drills we’ve worked with them on, from home!

As we continue forward, a couple things will happen. OPEN PLAY, KIDS’ NIGHT OUT, AND BIRTHDAY PARTIES ARE SUSPENDED. WE DO NOT HAVE A CLEAR TIMELINE ON THIS SO PLEASE CHECK THE WEBSITE, FACEBOOK, OR INSTAGRAM FREQUENTLY. We ask that class members sit tight with us and as things progress, trust that we will make the most responsible choices. If that means multiple makeups, we will make it happen when the dust settles. We will consider online options if the need presents. Being a small business that depends on our membership being healthy and strong, we will do our part, and we ask that you do you your part to help us stay a healthy business with healthy members.

Thank you for being a part of our community.
